The Vinyl Series Volume Three

Listening notes

The Vinyl Series Volume Three is a various artists compilation issued by Island Records in 2021, carrying catalog number B0033544-01. The release spans four sides across two records and draws from three genre categories listed for the set: Pop, Rock, and Reggae.

The eighteen tracks are distributed across the four sides without listed durations. Side A opens with "Fire And Water" and continues through "Sailin' Shoes," "Cissy Strut," and 'The "In" Crowd.' Side B is given over entirely to reggae-associated titles, running from "This Is Reggae Music" and "Time Tough" through "Johnny Too Bad," "You Can Get It If You Really Want," and "King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown." The concentration of reggae material on a single side is a notable organizational decision, whatever its rationale.

Side C shifts in character, listing "Dear Mr. Fantasy," "Bad Company," "Better By You, Better Than Me," "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both of Us," and "Virginia Plain." Side D closes the set with "Morning Has Broken," "Way To Blue," "Late November," and "Lucky Man."

The release is the third entry in what the title identifies as a series, though no additional information about the series' scope, purpose, or release schedule is available from the verified data here. Island Records, the issuing label, has a documented history with several genres represented in this tracklist, though the specific reasons these particular tracks were gathered under this volume are not stated in available documentation.

Track durations are not listed. No personnel, production, or liner note information is confirmed for this entry. Prospective buyers and researchers should consult physical copies or the label directly for credits and any additional context.
