Vicious Vinyl

Listening notes

Vicious Vinyl is a various-artists compilation released in 1987 on Concept Records, carrying the catalog number CC0067. Issued on vinyl, the set spans four sides across what the track layout confirms is a double album, with a total of thirty-three tracks spread across sides A through D.

The genre tags associated with this release are notably broad, encompassing glam, hard rock, heavy metal, prog rock, punk, rock, speed metal, symphonic rock, and thrash. That range is reflected in the tracklist itself, which moves between stylistic registers from one cut to the next. Side A opens with "I Don't Need No Doctor" and closes with "Turbo Lover," running eight tracks at a combined runtime of roughly thirty minutes. Side B follows a similar structure, ending with a live recording — "Lay Me Down (Live)" — the only track on the compilation explicitly identified as a live performance. Sides C and D continue the pattern of eight tracks each, with D extending to nine entries. The longest single track is "Metal Of The Night" at 6:11, positioned at B4. The shortest is "Ride Baby Ride," which closes the album at 2:29.

Several track titles — among them "Flick Of The Switch," "Talk Dirty To Me," "Fight For Your Right," "19th Nervous Breakdown," and "Killed By Death" — share names with well-known recordings by established acts, though the verified data does not confirm which artists or versions are represented here, and no personnel information is available in the source material.

As it stands, Vicious Vinyl documents a particular moment in the mid-to-late 1980s hard rock and metal landscape as curated by a label whose catalog number suggests an active release schedule. What the compilation represents beyond its tracklist and format details would require additional verification.
