Vinyl Conflict 2

Listening notes

Vinyl Conflict 2 is a four-track vinyl release issued in 1986 on the Melody Maker label under the catalog number CONFLICT 2. It is credited to Various Artists and is categorized under the genres of Alternative Rock, New Wave, and Rock.

The release presents two tracks per side. Side A opens with "South Africa," followed by "Orange Appled." Side B leads with "Lucifer Over Lancashire (Alternative Version)" and closes with "High Priest Of Love (Demo. Version)." The presence of an alternative version and a demo version among the four tracks indicates that at least two of the selections were not presented in their originally released form, suggesting the release offered listeners something beyond straightforward single or album edits. Beyond the track designations themselves, no additional detail about the recordings or their origins can be confirmed from available documentation.

The Melody Maker label, reflected in the release's parent label credit, shares its name with the long-running British music weekly of the same period, though the precise relationship between the publication and this release is not something that can be confirmed here and should be verified independently before publication.

As a Various Artists compilation, the record gathers material across what were considered overlapping genre categories in the mid-1980s, a period during which Alternative Rock and New Wave were frequently grouped together in both press coverage and retail contexts. Track durations are not documented in the available information.
