Vinyl Moon Volume 009: Shifting States

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 009: Shifting States arrived in 2016 as the ninth installment in the subscription-based Vinyl Moon series. Released on the Vinyl Moon label, the compilation carries the subtitle Shifting States and spans eleven tracks across two sides, working through genres catalogued as indie pop, indie rock, pop, pop rock, and rock.

The A side opens with "Son Of God" and moves through "Flame," "In My Sofa I'm Safe," "Come Out And Play," and "Groves" before closing on "Kept." The sequencing places six tracks on the first side, leaving five for the B side, which runs from "Dreamer" through "Foe," "Dry," "Now I'm Alive," and closes with "Just In Case." Track durations are not documented in available sources.

As with other volumes in the Vinyl Moon series, this release functions as a curated various artists collection delivered to subscribers, gathering recordings from across a range of contemporary acts working within the broader indie and pop landscape of the mid-2010s. The subtitle Shifting States appears to provide a thematic framework for the selection, though the precise curatorial rationale behind that framing is not detailed in available documentation.

Volume 009 sits within a catalog that numbered at least into the double digits by the time of release, with each volume assigned a sequential number rather than a standard catalog designation. Personnel credits, pressing details, and artist attributions for individual tracks are not confirmed in the available record and are omitted here accordingly.
