Vinyl Moon Volume 036: Shapeshifters

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 036, subtitled Shapeshifters, is a various artists compilation released by Vinyl Moon in 2018 on vinyl format. It carries the catalog designation Volume 036, placing it within the label's numbered series of releases. The record is categorized across the genres of indie pop, indie rock, pop, and rock.

The compilation contains ten tracks spread across two sides. Side A opens with "Cold War" and continues through "At My Door," "An Indication," "Tonight," and "Love Is So Hard." Side B begins with "Komorebi" and proceeds through "Crystal," "Guilty Pleasures," "Do Wrong," and closes with "Are You Leaving." Track durations are not documented in available information.

Vinyl Moon operates as a subscription-based label, and Volume 036 fits within that ongoing series. The subtitle Shapeshifters, combined with the spread of genres represented, suggests the compilation was assembled with some degree of tonal or stylistic range in mind, though the specific curatorial intent behind the title is not documented here. As with other entries in the Vinyl Moon series, the release represents the label's approach of grouping artists under a themed volume rather than presenting a conventional label sampler or artist retrospective.
