Vinyl Moon Volume 085: Mental Wealth

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 085, subtitled Mental Wealth, arrived in 2022 as the eighty-fifth entry in the label's ongoing series of curated compilation releases. Vinyl Moon has built its model around presenting original, subscription-oriented records, and this volume continues that pattern, bringing together nine tracks across two sides of a standard vinyl release.

The tracklist spans genres catalogued under Folk, World, and Country as well as Hip Hop, a pairing that places this volume among the more eclectic entries in the series by genre classification alone. Side A opens with "Give Me Your Horse" and moves through "Palmeras," "Pájaros de Barrio," and "Te Canto Colores (Alegrías)," the last of which references the flamenco form known as alegrías in its title. The presence of Spanish-language titles on Side A points toward a geographic and linguistic range that extends beyond English-language songwriting traditions. Side B carries five tracks — "Transmission," "In My Heart," "Approche Toi," "Baked," and "Sunset Vibes" — with "Approche Toi" adding a French-language title to the sequence.

Nine tracks without listed durations leaves the overall runtime unverified here. No personnel, producer credits, or artist attributions are available within the confirmed data for this volume, which is worth noting for any collector or researcher seeking to attribute specific performances.

Mental Wealth is the volume's subtitle, and whether that phrase functions as a thematic thread connecting the selected tracks is a question the confirmed facts cannot answer. What can be said is that this release represents a documented 2022 entry in Vinyl Moon's catalog, carrying the label's characteristic format of presenting new, compiled material on vinyl outside conventional retail distribution channels.
