Vinyl Moon Volume 117: Fountain of Sooth

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 117: Fountain of Sooth is a 2025 various artists compilation released on the Vinyl Moon label, catalogued as Volume 117 in the label's ongoing series. The release is formatted on vinyl and spans genres including indie pop, pop, and rock.

The record contains twelve tracks spread across two sides. The A side opens with "Frankie" and continues through "I Wanna Git Dim Sum (with My Friends)," "Better If We Don't," "Hold It Down," "The Recogniser," and "Tomorrow." The B side leads with "Front Door Blues" and moves through "Temporary," "Mistaken for Trouble," "Away from London," "Isolation Tank," and closes with "Loose Change," which features a credited contribution from Obi ILL.

The compilation's title, Fountain of Sooth, is one of the more distinctive entries in the Vinyl Moon series by name alone, though the available information does not indicate a stated curatorial theme connecting the selections. What the tracklist does suggest, at least superficially, is a range of tonal registers across its titles — from the sociable energy implied by a song about getting dim sum with friends to something more inward-looking in a track called "Isolation Tank." Whether those titles reflect the actual character of the music is a matter the listener would need to determine firsthand.

Vinyl Moon operates as a subscription-based service built around delivering curated vinyl compilations, and Volume 117 represents a continued entry in that model. Track durations are not available in the current documentation.
