Vinyl Post: Volume 6

Listening notes

Vinyl Post: Volume 6 is a various-artists compilation released in 2019 on the Vinyl Post label, carrying the catalog number VPLP-006. The record is issued on vinyl and collects nine tracks spread across two sides, drawing from genres that include dream pop, indie rock, lo-fi, and rock.

Side A opens with "Too Lucky" and continues through "R.O.B.Y.N.," "Way Back Home," and "High," accounting for four of the nine selections. Side B carries the remaining five: "Painkillers & Steroids," "Only Try," "You Don't Know Me," "Bones," and "Punchdrunk." Track timings are not listed.

As the sixth installment in the Vinyl Post series — a lineage indicated by both the title and the catalog suffix VPLP-006 — the compilation arrives as part of an ongoing label effort to bring together artists working within broadly overlapping alternative and independent idioms. The genre spread across dream pop, indie rock, lo-fi, and rock suggests a programming sensibility that values tonal range within a loosely cohesive alternative framework, though the specific artists represented on this volume are not confirmed in the available documentation and are therefore not listed here.

Compilations of this kind serve a practical function for collectors and listeners navigating independent music, offering a curated entry point into a label's broader roster and aesthetic perspective. Whether Volume 6 functions as a document of a particular moment in the Vinyl Post catalog or as a standalone sampler is a question that would benefit from additional context about the series as a whole.
