Viva La Vinyl

Listening notes

Viva La Vinyl is a 1994 various artists compilation released on vinyl by Dead Beat Records (catalog number DB 03). The record is structured as a split between two labels: the A-side is designated the Dead Beat Records Side, while the B-side carries the Campground Records Side label, making the release a collaborative effort between the two imprints rather than a straightforward single-label compilation.

The genres listed for the release span hardcore, pop punk, punk, and rock, reflecting a range of styles across its sixteen tracks. The A-side runs seven tracks, opening with "Shingle" and continuing through "Destroying The Builder," "These Are The Quotes From Our Favorite 80's Movies," "Streak (Bill #1)," "Magical Mystery Tour," "Bomb," and closing with "Can't Listen." The B-side carries nine tracks under the Campground Records banner: "Happy All The Time," "I Wish," "Crawl," "Flower," "Crazy Al," "So What," "Bear Named Dog," "My Crime," and "Weight Of The Sun."

No artist or band attributions for individual tracks are available in the confirmed data, nor are track durations, personnel credits, or pressing details. The dual-label structure of the release — each label effectively curating its own side — is a format occasionally used in the independent punk and hardcore community of the era as a means of cross-promotion between smaller imprints, though no specific documentation of the circumstances behind this particular collaboration has been confirmed here.

The title Viva La Vinyl is the sole verified text available regarding the release's framing or intent. Further documentation, including contributing artists and any additional pressing variants, would need to be confirmed before a more complete entry can be prepared.
