WEBN (The Vinyl Days)

Listening notes

WEBN (The Vinyl Days) was released in 1976 on Brute Force Cybernetics Records under catalog number BFC-1001. A various artists compilation spanning funk, soul, and rock, the record collects thirteen tracks across two sides.

Side A opens with "Cynthiana" and moves through "Shine Out With Me," "Freedom," "Sweet Woman," "Sing You A Lullabye," and "Devils And Angels." Side B carries seven tracks: "Thinking," "Mexican Highway," "Glenorchard (Rise In The Morning)," "The Watcher," "Hoovite Landing," "Whiskey Lady," and "Lazy." The title of the album and the label name both invite speculation about the compilation's origins — WEBN was a Cincinnati, Ohio FM radio station with a notable presence in the mid-1970s, and a title referencing "The Vinyl Days" would be consistent with a station-affiliated or promotional release from that era, though no verified documentation of that connection is presented here and a fact checker should confirm it before publication.

The tracklist itself is eclectic in title character. Names like "Mexican Highway," "Hoovite Landing," and "Glenorchard (Rise In The Morning)" sit alongside more direct titles such as "Freedom" and "Whiskey Lady," suggesting the compilation drew from a range of contributors, though no personnel information has been verified for this entry.

No track durations are documented in the available data. Collectors or researchers seeking additional detail on contributing artists, session origins, or the relationship between this release and the Cincinnati broadcasting landscape will need to consult primary sources. This entry should be treated as a starting point pending further verification.
