Vintersorg
Ödemarkens Son

Listening notes

Vintersorg's *Ödemarkens Son* received a vinyl release in 2017 through Napalm Records, catalogued as NPR 072 VINYL. The Swedish act, whose work has been categorized under black metal, folk metal, and rock, presents nine tracks across two sides on this pressing.

Side A opens with "När Alver Sina Runor Sjungit" and moves through "Svältvinter," "Under Norrskenets Fallande Ljusspel," and "Månskensmän" before closing on the title track, "Ödemarkens Son." Side B carries four tracks: "Trollbunden," "Offerbäcken," "I Den Trolska Dalens Hjärta," and "På Landet." The tracklist is conducted entirely in Swedish, consistent with Vintersorg's use of the language across their recorded output.

The album's title translates roughly to "Son of the Wilderness" in English, and the track titles carry similarly nature-oriented and folkloric language — references to moonlight, northern lights, sacrificial streams, and enchanted valleys appear across the sequencing. This linguistic character aligns with the folk metal genre designation assigned to the release.

Napalm Records, the Austrian label handling this pressing, has a documented history of releasing vinyl editions for metal artists, and this release carries a standard catalog designation consistent with their numbering conventions. Track durations are not documented in the available data for this pressing.

Collectors and listeners seeking this record should verify independently whether this 2017 issue represents the original vinyl edition of the album or a reissue, as that information is not confirmed by the available data. Further details on pressing variants, color editions, or matrix information are similarly outside what can be verified here and should be confirmed through additional sources before publication.
