9th Cloud
Vinyl EP 01

Listening notes

9th Cloud's Vinyl EP 01, released in 2004 on Key On A Records (catalog number MON EP B001), collects eight tracks across two sides of a vinyl release, working through territory that the label categorizes as abstract, breakbeat, electronic, and trip hop.

The A-side opens with "U Know" in two versions — a vocal mix running three minutes and fifteen seconds, followed by an instrumental mix at three minutes and ten seconds — a sequencing that invites direct comparison between the two approaches. The third track, "A Blend Of The Purest (Album Mix)," is the longest on the side at four minutes and seven seconds, while "Scratch Samples 1 (Scratch Dis Mix)" closes the A-side in just over a minute, its brief running time suggesting a functional interlude or DJ tool rather than a fully developed composition.

The B-side carries four tracks of more consistent length. "My Life's An Interlude (Album Mix)" opens at three minutes and fifteen seconds, followed by "Vinyl Maniac (Album Mix)" at two minutes and fifty-eight seconds — a title that acknowledges the format directly. "Physical Vitamin (Album Mix)" runs three minutes and thirty-three seconds, and the release closes with "Scratch Samples 2 (Scratch Dis Mix)" at two minutes and one second, a longer counterpart to the A-side's scratch segment.

The recurring "(Album Mix)" designation across several tracks suggests this EP draws from or relates to a larger body of work, though the nature of that relationship is not specified here. The two "Scratch Dis Mix" entries, positioned as closing tracks on each side, point toward a release with at least some consideration for DJ use.

Issued under the catalog number MON EP B001, the release represents 9th Cloud's work within a genre framework that crosses abstract electronic production with breakbeat and trip hop elements.
