Alain Turban
Mes Années Vinyl's

Listening notes

Released in 2018 on Pony Music (catalog number PM141218), Mes Années Vinyl's is a three-disc CDr compilation by French chanson and pop artist Alain Turban. The set is substantial in scope, gathering 50 tracks across its three discs and running well over three hours in total.

The first two discs function as a survey of Turban's recorded output, presenting 16 tracks on disc one and 18 on disc two. Titles across these discs include "Quatrième Dimension," "Santa Monica," "Je Veux Du Rock N' Roll," "Goussainville," and "Sans Domicile Fixe," among others. Track lengths are generally in the three-to-four-minute range, consistent with the single-oriented formats typical of chanson and pop releases from earlier decades.

The third disc is the most varied of the three. It opens with a section labeled "Maxi Club," presenting eight extended versions of previously heard titles. "Santa Monica" appears twice in this section — once at 6:01 and again in a separate remix running 6:32 — while tracks such as "Esprit Frappeur (Remix Maxi)" and "Comme Un Voleur (Remix Maxi)" extend their album counterparts by roughly a minute and a half to two minutes.

Following the Maxi Club section, the third disc includes two groups of previously unreleased material. Six tracks are designated "Inédits 1980," among them "Baby Love," "La Fille De New York," and "Denise." A single track, "J't'attends," is identified as an "Inédit 1990." The disc closes with a bonus track, "Santa Monica (Version Blues)," timed at 3:57.

The title Mes Années Vinyl's — loosely translatable as "My Vinyl Years" — suggests a retrospective intent, though the specifics of what period or catalogue it draws from are not documented here.
