Persona 5 Vinyl Soundtrack: Essential Edition

Listening notes

The Persona 5 Vinyl Soundtrack: Essential Edition was released in 2021 by iam8bit under catalog number 8BIT-8069. Credited to the Atlus Sound Team, this box set collects music from the Persona 5 video game across four vinyl records, spanning eight sides and a total of sixty tracks.

The set is cataloged under the genres of Jazz, Jazz-Rock, Stage & Screen, and Video Game Music. The tracklist is notably broad in scope. Sides A and B open with several of the game's most prominent vocal tracks, including "Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There," "Life Will Change," "Last Surprise," "Beneath The Mask," and "Rivers In The Desert." Side C reprises a number of those same compositions in instrumental form, presenting alternate versions of "Beneath The Mask," "Life Will Change," "Rivers In The Desert," and others without vocal accompaniment.

The remaining sides move through a wider cross-section of the game's score. Side D alone carries fourteen tracks, ranging from atmospheric pieces such as "Interrogation Room," "Disquiet," and "Recollection And Foreboding" to lighter material including "Legend Of Gambla Goemon," "Pro Golfer Sarutahiko," and "Crane Game." Sides E through H continue through character and narrative cues — among them "Butterfly Kiss," "When Mother Was There," "My Homie," and "Sunset Bridge" — before closing out with tracks including "Life Goes On," "New Beginning," and "Sweatshop."

The designation "Essential Edition" appears in the release title, though what distinguishes this configuration from any other release of this material is not verifiable from the available documentation alone and should be confirmed before publication.
