Beatfanatic
Vinyl Junkie Culture

Listening notes

Beatfanatic's *Vinyl Junkie Culture* was released in 2009 on Soundscape Records (catalog number SCRCD005) as a CD. The release sits across a broad range of genre classifications — Disco, Downtempo, Electronic, Funk / Soul, House, and Latin — suggesting a project conceived with stylistic range in mind rather than a single-genre focus.

The album carries eleven tracks. Title sequencing alone offers some indication of tonal variety: "Automatic" opens the record, followed by "Fly Away (Album Mix)," the latter designation implying at least one alternate version exists elsewhere. Mid-album entries such as "A Soulful Mode" and "Sharpskin Boogiestomp" lean toward names with funk and soul connotations, while "Berlin Nights" and "Bombay Billie" suggest geographical reference points within the sequencing. "Prince Of Darkness" and "Nautonnier" — the closing track, a French word with nautical and historical associations — round out a tracklist that, by title at least, moves across a fairly wide conceptual range.

The album's title, *Vinyl Junkie Culture*, is worth noting in the context of its format: the release was issued on CD, not vinyl, which creates a degree of self-aware distance between the title's stated allegiance and the physical object itself. Whether that reflects irony, aspiration, or simple branding is not something the available facts can settle.

Track durations are not confirmed in the available documentation, so the overall runtime of the album cannot be stated here.
