Blue Mondays
Vinyl Aint Vintage Vol.1

Listening notes

Blue Mondays released "Vinyl Aint Vintage Vol.1" in 2016 on their own imprint, Tunes From Blue Mondays, catalogued as TFBM003. The release arrives as the third entry in the label's catalog, suggesting a young but already active operation by the time this record appeared.

The record spans two sides across four tracks. The A-side carries "Do They Really Exist" and "Tropicale Smoked," while the B-side presents two tracks listed simply as "Ghost Track 1" and "Ghost Track 2." The decision to designate the B-side material as ghost tracks is a choice worth noting for collectors and browsers alike, as it positions those two pieces outside conventional titling convention. Whether that reflects an artistic statement, a deliberate air of mystery, or something more practical is not documented in the available information.

The release sits at the intersection of deep house, electronic, and nu-disco, the three genres under which it is catalogued. These are broad categories that share certain DNA — a general orientation toward dancefloor utility, synthesizer-driven arrangements, and rhythm-forward construction — though what specifically characterizes this record within that space is beyond what the available facts can support.

The title itself makes an argument of sorts. "Vinyl Aint Vintage" reads as a position statement, pushing back against any framing of vinyl as a nostalgic or retro medium. That the release is pressed to vinyl rather than issued digitally alone gives the title a certain internal consistency, though the full context of that intention remains with the artist.

Duration information for individual tracks is not available, and no personnel credits or pressing details have been confirmed for this draft.
