Carson Plug
Vinyl Surgery (Frequenz Berater)

Listening notes

Carson Plug's "Vinyl Surgery (Frequenz Berater)" was released in 2001 on the d.Drum label under catalog number GTN 1068.25. Issued as a CD, the release spans two discs and encompasses genres including electro, electronic, house, IDM, and techno.

The release is substantial in scope, collecting twenty-three tracks across its two discs. The first disc opens with "Moonraker" and closes with "Program Da Future," running through eleven additional titles including "Your Body So Beautiful (Yark Prongo Mix)," "Black Trail," and "Barrage 1." A remix of "Break It Down" by Cari Lekebusch and a rework of "Wavez" credited as a G-Force Dark Mix also appear on the first disc, alongside "Robot Is Systematic (Ural 13 Diktators Remix)."

The second disc begins with a brief "Interlude" at twenty-three seconds before moving into longer material. Notable among the second disc's entries is a Ricardo Villalobos remix of "Moved," which runs to twelve minutes and twenty-two seconds, making it the longest track on the release. Also present on the second disc are remixes credited to M. Mayer ("L'Esperanza"), Pascal F.E.O.S. ("Eternal Aspects"), and Claude Young ("Cycle Sluts"). The disc closes with "Cycle Sluts (Claude Young Remix)" at seven minutes and thirty-one seconds.

Taken together, the two discs reflect a compilation or retrospective format that incorporates a range of remix contributors alongside what appear to be original productions. The title's reference to "vinyl surgery" alongside the subtitle "Frequenz Berater" — roughly translatable from German as "frequency consultant" — suggests a deliberate framing around electronic music craft, though the precise editorial concept behind the sequencing and selection is not documented in the available information.
