Daft Punk
TRON: Legacy (Vinyl Edition Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Listening notes

Released in 2011 on Walt Disney Records (catalog number 5099909792012), the vinyl edition of Daft Punk's TRON: Legacy motion picture soundtrack spreads across four sides of vinyl. Sides A, B, and C carry the twenty-two tracks of the main score, while Side D collects seven additional pieces listed under the heading "Bonus Content," bringing the total to twenty-nine tracks.

The score moves across a wide range of genre classifications, including electronic, house, leftfield, classical, modern classical, and score and soundtrack categories, which reflects the breadth of material distributed across the four sides. Individual tracks vary considerably in length. The shortest pieces on the main program run just over ninety seconds — "Arena" at 1:32 and "Fall" at 1:22 — while the longer compositions extend well past four minutes. "C.L.U." on Side C runs 4:37, "Disc Wars" closes Side B at 4:13, and "Finale" ends the main program at 4:24. "Adagio For Tron," opening Side B, runs 4:10.

The bonus side follows a similarly varied structure, with "Encom Part 1" as the longest track at 3:51 and "Round One" as the shortest at 1:38. Notably, the two Encom pieces appear in reverse numerical order on Side D, with "Encom Part 2" at D2 preceding "Encom Part 1" at D3.

Across all four sides, the release accounts for approximately seventy-eight minutes of music as indicated by the stated track durations. This draft has not been reviewed for accuracy and should be verified before publication.
