Daft Punk
TRON: Legacy (Vinyl Edition Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Listening notes

Released by Walt Disney Records in 2022 under catalog number D001356101 ST01, the vinyl edition of Daft Punk's TRON: Legacy motion picture soundtrack spreads across four sides of what is a substantial double LP presentation. The release is catalogued under an unusually wide range of genres — Classical, Contemporary, Electronic, House, Neo-Romantic, Soundtrack, and Stage & Screen — a combination that at minimum signals the scope of what the duo brought to the project.

The sequencing follows the film's dramatic arc through Sides A, B, and C, opening with "Overture" at 2:28 and moving through 22 cues that range in length from the brief "Fall" at 1:22 to "C.L.U." at 4:39, the longest of the scored passages. "Adagio For TRON" and "Disc Wars" each clock in at 4:11, while shorter pieces like "Arena" (1:33) and "The Son Of Flynn" (1:35) function more as scene transitions than developed compositions. The sequencing closes Side C with "Finale" at 4:24.

Side D is designated as bonus content, collecting seven additional cues: "Sea Of Simulation," "Encom Part 2," "Encom Part 1," "Round One," "Castor," "Reflections," and "Sunrise Prelude." These total roughly 18 minutes and extend the program to 27 tracks overall. Notably, "Encom Part 1" and "Encom Part 2" appear in reverse numerical order on the pressing, which may be worth confirming against a reference copy.
