Daft Punk
TRON: Legacy (Vinyl Edition Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Listening notes

Released by Walt Disney Records in 2022 under catalog number D001356101, this vinyl edition of Daft Punk's TRON: Legacy motion picture soundtrack spreads across four sides of what is a substantial double-LP presentation. The tracklist runs to thirty entries in total, with sides A through C accounting for the main program and side D collecting seven additional pieces under the heading of bonus content.

The main program opens with "Overture" at 2:28 and moves through twenty-one tracks that include titles such as "Recognizer," "Rinzler," "The Game Has Changed," and the two longest entries on that portion of the record, "Adagio For TRON" and "Disc Wars," each clocking in at 4:11. Side C closes the primary sequence with "Finale," a 4:24 piece that is the longest track on that side. The bonus side leads with "Sea Of Simulation" and concludes with "Sunrise Prelude," with individual durations ranging from 1:38 for "Round One" up to 3:51 for "Encom Part 1."

The genres assigned to this release span a notably wide range, listed as classical, contemporary, electronic, house, soundtrack, and stage and screen, which reflects the breadth of the material across the full running time rather than any single dominant mode.

Individual track durations throughout the main program tend toward the brief, with several falling under two minutes, a characteristic of music composed to serve specific dramatic functions within a film. The bonus content on side D follows a similar pattern, though "Encom Part 1" at 3:51 is the longest track on that side.
