Daft Punk
TRON: Legacy (Vinyl Edition Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Listening notes

Released in 2015 on Walt Disney Records (catalog number D001356101), this vinyl edition of Daft Punk's TRON: Legacy motion picture soundtrack spreads across four sides of vinyl, presenting the score in a format that accommodates its considerable runtime and track count.

The program opens with "Overture" on Side A and moves through twenty-two scored cues before reaching Side C's closing "Finale," which runs four minutes and twenty-four seconds and is the longest piece on the first three sides. Side D is designated as bonus content, adding seven additional tracks — "Sea Of Simulation," "Encom Part 2," "Encom Part 1," "Round One," "Castor," "Reflections," and "Sunrise Prelude" — bringing the complete tracklist to twenty-nine pieces.

The genres listed for this release span a notably wide range: Classical, Contemporary, Electronic, House, Neo-Romantic, Soundtrack, and Stage & Screen. That breadth reflects a score structured around distinct musical modes. Pieces such as "Adagio For TRON" and "Nocturne" suggest orchestral and classical frameworks, while titles like "Derezzed" and "End Of Line" align more clearly with the electronic and house categorizations. The longest individual cues are "C.L.U." at four minutes and thirty-nine seconds, and "Adagio For TRON" and "Disc Wars," each running four minutes and eleven seconds. Much of the remaining material is comparatively concise, with several tracks falling under two minutes.

The four-side configuration gives this edition roughly seventy-seven minutes of music across the full program, accounting for the bonus content on Side D.
