Auratones

Listening notes

DeepChord's Auratones was released in 2017 on Soma Quality Recordings, catalogued as SOMALP117. The release occupies the ambient, dub techno, and electronic genres, and arrives on vinyl formatted across four sides.

The twelve tracks are distributed evenly, three to a side. Side A opens with "Fog Hotel," followed by "Moving Lights" and "Wind In Trees." Side B carries "Lagonda," "Varanasi," and "Portofino." Side C presents "Point Reyes," "Underwater Galaxies," and "Azure," while Side D closes the record with "Devil Ray," "Signals," and "Roca 9."

The track titles themselves are worth noting as a matter of plain record. Several gesture toward geography — Varanasi, a city in India; Portofino, a village on the Italian Riviera; Point Reyes, a coastal headland in California — while others suggest atmospheric or natural phenomena: "Fog Hotel," "Wind In Trees," "Underwater Galaxies." Whether these titles reflect literal source material, conceptual intent, or purely associative naming is not confirmed by the available information and should not be assumed.

Soma Quality Recordings, the Glasgow-based label, serves as the releasing body. The catalog number SOMALP117 places the release within Soma's LP sequence, though what that sequence communicates about the label's output at that time is beyond what these facts alone can support.

Duration information for individual tracks is not available in the verified data, and no personnel, recording, or production details are confirmed here. Collectors and listeners seeking that information should consult the release's physical liner materials or other verified sources before treating any such details as established.
