Demented Soul
Rastafari E.P.

Listening notes

Demented Soul's Rastafari E.P. arrived in 2016 on Foundation X Black, catalog number FDXBLKSR003, presenting four tracks across two sides of vinyl. The release situates itself within the drum n bass, electronic, and jungle genres, a combination that gestures toward the music's documented roots and the ongoing conversation between those overlapping forms.

The A-side opens with "Got To Know" before moving into "Message To The King," while the B-side carries "Rastafari" and closes with "Thy Brother." The title track shares its name with the EP as a whole, and taken together the four titles suggest a thematic coherence built around Rastafarian reference and address, though the specifics of that framework are for the listener to consider rather than this entry to determine.

Foundation X Black functions as the releasing label, and the catalog sequence implied by FDXBLKSR003 places this record third in whatever series the label had established under that designation at the time of release. Beyond that structural detail, the label's broader history and roster fall outside what the verified record for this release can confirm.

What the release does establish plainly is its format: this is a vinyl record, issued at a moment when that format had returned to sustained commercial and cultural relevance across electronic music communities. Drum n bass and jungle have maintained a particular relationship with twelve-inch releases, and the four-track EP format used here is consistent with long-standing conventions in those genres.

Track durations are not listed for any of the four selections, which limits what can be said about the shape of the record beyond its sequence. This draft should be reviewed against any supplementary documentation before publication, as personnel, pressing details, and related release information have not been verified here.
