Depressive Silence
Vinyl Discography Boxset

Listening notes

Released in 2023 on Ancient Meadow (catalog number AM-150), the Depressive Silence Vinyl Discography Boxset is a substantial collection spanning multiple records and bringing together several distinct releases under the dungeon synth and electronic genres.

The set is organized across ten vinyl sides, labeled A through J, plus a DVD component. The first grouping, Demo I, occupies sides A and B, with the sole A-side track "Medieval Demons" running 16:48, followed by "Dark Side" (8:01) and "Düsterwald" (8:39) on side B. The second release represented, Mourning, fills sides C and D across five tracks: "Forest Of Eternity" (9:23), "Depths Of The Oceans" (8:14), "Spheres" (7:02), "Mourning" (6:37), and "Dreams" (6:12). Sides E and F present The Darkened Empires, comprising "In Death's Sleep" (9:30), "To Die In Your Dreams" (6:09), "Black Visions" (6:25), and "Journey To My Realm" (11:22). Demo II follows on sides G and H with two tracks: "Lost In My Dreams" (13:46) and "Dark Soul" (9:27).

Sides I and J are given over to Medieval Demons MMXIX, a remastered version of the material from Demo I. "Medieval Demons MMXIX (Remastered)" runs 16:50 on side I, while side J contains remastered versions of "Dark Side" (7:29) and "Düsterwald" (7:58), both running slightly shorter than their original counterparts.

The boxset also includes a DVD documenting a live performance titled Depressive Silence — Live In Freiburg MMXIX. That recording contains live versions of the three Demo I compositions, with runtimes of 17:09, 8:07, and 9:10 respectively.

Across its vinyl and DVD components, the set accounts for a considerable total runtime. The individual track lengths, several of which exceed fifteen minutes, reflect the extended, atmospheric structures typical of dungeon synth releases. The inclusion of both original demo recordings and a 2019 remaster of the debut material, alongside live documentation, makes this a comprehensive release for reference purposes. Fact checker should verify all release groupings, durations, and the DVD's status as a confirmed component of this edition.
