Desired State
Goes Around / Here And Now

Listening notes

Desired State's Goes Around / Here And Now arrived on RAM Records in 2021 under catalog number RAMM013EP2, presenting four tracks across two sides of vinyl. The release sits within the drum and bass, electronic, and jungle genres, placing it within a lineage of music that RAM Records has consistently championed since the label's establishment.

The format is a standard twelve-inch, with the A-side carrying two versions of Goes Around. The original runs at six minutes and fifty-three seconds, followed by a remix clocking in at six minutes and twenty-nine seconds. Flipping to the AA-side, Here And Now occupies the first position at an even six minutes, with its own remix following at five minutes and fifty-nine seconds. The structure of pairing each composition with a dedicated remix gives the release a total runtime that makes deliberate use of the vinyl format, with each side offering contrasting takes on the same source material.

RAM Records, the London-based drum and bass label, has operated as a significant outlet for the genre since the 1990s, and this release carries the RAMM013EP2 catalog designation, situating it within the label's ongoing EP series. The decision to present both tracks in original and remixed form on a single record is a format choice with a long history in dance music, allowing a single piece of wax to serve multiple contexts and purposes within a DJ set or a home listening environment.

For collectors and enthusiasts cataloguing RAM Records releases, RAMM013EP2 represents a 2021 entry from Desired State in the label's catalog, documented here as a four-track vinyl EP in the drum and bass and jungle tradition.
