Displacer
Curse Of The Black Vinyl

Listening notes

Curse Of The Black Vinyl is a 2016 digital release by Canadian electronic artist Displacer, issued through Hymen Records under catalog number ¥060. The release is categorized under the electronic and IDM genres and was made available exclusively in file format.

The release spans seven tracks with a total runtime of approximately thirty-three minutes. The tracklist draws on a mix of remixed material and what appear to be original or alternate versions. Two tracks revisit "Black Lotus," one reworked by DJ Swamp and another by Jonah K, while "RZLA" appears twice across the release — once in a remix credited to Hologram_ and once in a version credited to Jack Dangers under the designation "Mmxmetamix Rmx." The inclusion of Jack Dangers, known for his work with Meat Beat Manifesto, is a verifiable credit listed on the release, though no further context about the remix's origins is available from the confirmed facts alone.

The remaining tracks are "Freefall," running four minutes and six seconds; "Unbreakable," at five minutes and thirty-nine seconds, which shares its runtime with the Jack Dangers remix; and "I'll Be Bach (Overdub Mix by Displacer)," credited explicitly to Displacer as remixer, suggesting the artist contributed a self-produced rework to the project.

Hymen Records, the releasing label, has historically operated within the experimental electronic and IDM space, though no specific label context has been verified for this particular release beyond the catalog number and year.

As a file-only release, Curse Of The Black Vinyl has no confirmed physical pressing. Collectors and researchers cataloging Hymen Records releases or Displacer's discography will find this entry relevant as a documented digital release from 2016.
