DJ Q-Bert
Thud Rumble Show Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2008 on Dirt Style Records, DJ Q-Bert's Thud Rumble Show Vinyl carries the catalog number DNB-001 and arrives in a format purpose-built for the turntablist context. The record falls across the genres of Breaks, DJ Battle Tool, Electronic, and Hip Hop, a combination that signals its intended function as working material rather than passive listening.

The A-side opens with a Drum and Bass Remix of Pac Man, followed by a track whose title describes its role with unusual directness: "The Background Beat Q Skratches To As The Emergency Skratcher." That level of functional transparency in a track title is relatively uncommon and gives some indication of how the release positions itself — less as a conventional album and more as a set of tools organized around specific performance situations.

The B-side continues in that spirit. A Spoonie G Instrumental Break occupies the first position, followed by Bonus Funky Breaks. The side closes with Too Short Skipless Pimp Phrases, with the word "skipless" again pointing to a technical consideration relevant to DJs who need audio that can be manipulated without interruption from groove skipping under stylus pressure.

Dirt Style Records, the label behind the release, has been associated with DJ Q-Bert's output and the broader turntablist scene. The catalog number DNB-001 suggests this may have been an early or inaugural entry in a particular series or line within the label, though no additional releases in that sequence are confirmed here.

Track durations are not available for any of the five listed cuts. This draft should be reviewed against additional verified sources before publication.
