DJ Sona
DJ Sona: Ultimate Concert Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2019 through iam8bit under catalog number 8BIT-8112, DJ Sona: Ultimate Concert Vinyl brings music from the League of Legends universe to the physical format. The release spans genres listed as Electronic, Stage & Screen, Trance, and Video Game Music, reflecting the range of styles associated with the DJ Sona in-game character.

The record is structured across two sides with distinct approaches to its material. Side A opens with original edits of the three core compositions — Kinetic, running 3:54; Concussive at 4:31; and Ethereal at 4:13 — followed by a track identified as Sona Demo (Unreleased Base Material), clocking in at 2:44. The inclusion of demo material on a physical release gives Side A a document-like character, presenting both finished and foundational versions of the work within the same sequence.

Side B shifts to extended mixes of the same three titles. Kinetic expands to 6:58, Concussive reaches 7:18, and Ethereal runs 7:34. The extended format allows each piece considerably more runtime than its Side A counterpart, with Ethereal seeing the largest proportional increase from its original edit length.

Taken as a whole, the sequencing creates a record that functions in two modes: the tighter original edits on the first side and the more expansive versions on the second. The presence of the unreleased demo material on Side A distinguishes this release from a straightforward soundtrack pressing and may be of particular interest to collectors focused on archival or bonus content.

Iam8bit has an established history of releasing video game music on vinyl, and this title fits within that ongoing catalog. Prospective buyers should verify current availability and pressing details through the label or established secondary market sources, as this draft has not been independently fact-checked.
