DJ Spen
Disco Dreaming (The Black Vinyl Collection)

Listening notes

DJ Spen's Disco Dreaming (The Black Vinyl Collection) was released in 2000 on Black Vinyl Records, carrying the catalog number BVRLP 001. The release is catalogued under the genres of Deep House, Electronic, Garage House, and House.

The release spans a double LP format, with nine tracks distributed across four sides. Side A opens with "Funk At Midnight" before moving into "Trapped When U Touch Me (DJ Psycho Trap Mix)." Side B carries "Give Me Your Love (Harley & Muscle Philharmonic Mix)" and "Da Changes." Side C presents "Crazed Sax At Midnight (Militant Soul Re-Edit)" followed by "Show U." Side D closes the record with three tracks: "Tedd's Beat Goes On," "Trapped When U Dub Me," and "Midnight Beats."

The tracklist itself offers some points of interest for collectors and researchers. The presence of named mixes — including a DJ Psycho Trap Mix, a Harley & Muscle Philharmonic Mix, and a Militant Soul Re-Edit — indicates that the compilation draws on reworked versions of existing material rather than presenting solely original recordings in a single form. The title "Tedd's Beat Goes On" may be of interest to those researching the broader Baltimore and East Coast house scenes with which DJ Spen has been associated, though no additional verified context is available here to elaborate on that connection.

The catalog number BVRLP 001 designates this as the first long-player release on Black Vinyl Records. No track durations are currently documented in the available data.
