DJ Sprinkles
Queerifications & Ruins Vinyl Sampler 2

Listening notes

DJ Sprinkles' "Queerifications & Ruins Vinyl Sampler 2" was released by Mule Musiq in 2013 under catalog number mule musiq 162. The release is a vinyl sampler presenting two versions of a single track, "Lost Area," spread across both sides of the record.

The A-side carries "Lost Area (DJ Sprinkles' Lost Dancefloor, Orig. Ver.)" while the B-side presents "Lost Area (DJ Sprinkles' Empty Dancefloor, Orig. Ver.)." The pairing of these two distinct versions of the same composition gives the release a focused, comparative structure uncommon in standard single or EP formats. Both versions are identified as original versions, a designation that places them within a broader context of alternate edits or remixes that may exist elsewhere in the artist's catalog or the parent release this sampler draws from.

The release sits across the genres of ambient, deep house, and electronic, a combination consistent with the work DJ Sprinkles — the recording alias of Terre Thaemlitz — has pursued across other releases on Mule Musiq and elsewhere. The sampler format suggests the release was positioned as a preview or companion to a larger project, though the specific relationship to other recordings is not detailed by the available information.

Mule Musiq is a Tokyo-based label that has released DJ Sprinkles material previously, and this catalog number places the release within a continuing working relationship between artist and label as of 2013.

Duration information for both tracks is not available from current documentation, so the runtime of each version remains unconfirmed. This is a draft for human fact-checking and should not be published without verification against primary sources.
