DJ Unknown Featuring A Team (8), The
Vinyl Explosion / Just Play The Music

Listening notes

Released in 1996 on Big Beats Records, this two-track vinyl single from DJ Unknown featuring The A Team carries the catalog number BBR 006, placing it within the label's numbered run of releases. The record presents two tracks across its two sides: "Vinyl Explosion (Remix)" on the A-side and "Just Play The Music" on the AA-side.

The release sits within the electronic and happy hardcore genres, a pairing that was finding its footing in the mid-1990s as happy hardcore developed as a distinct strand of harder, faster electronic dance music in the United Kingdom. The designation of the A-side track as a remix indicates that an earlier version of "Vinyl Explosion" existed prior to this release, though details of that original version are not documented here.

The AA-side designation, rather than the more conventional B-side label, was a format choice occasionally used by labels during this period to signal equal weight between the two tracks, though what that choice reflects about Big Beats Records' intentions for this particular release is a matter for further research.

Big Beats Records, identified by the BBR prefix in its catalog numbering, released this record as catalog entry 006, suggesting the label had at least five prior releases before this one. Beyond what the catalog number implies about the label's output sequence, no additional label history is confirmed here.

Duration information for neither track is currently documented, leaving the runtime of each side unconfirmed. This is a draft for editorial review and fact checking, and any details beyond those drawn directly from the confirmed record data above should be verified before publication.
