Django Reinhardt
Vinyl Story By Jean-Charles Baty

Listening notes

Released in 2022 on Diggers Factory, *Vinyl Story By Jean-Charles Baty* (catalog number VS006) is a vinyl jazz compilation drawing from the recorded work of Django Reinhardt. The release carries the curatorial imprint of Jean-Charles Baty, whose name appears in the title, though the nature and extent of that curatorial role is not detailed in the available information.

The record spans thirteen tracks across two sides. Side A opens with "I'll See You In My Dreams" at two minutes and thirty-two seconds and moves through "Bouncing Around," "Minor Swing," "Nuages," and "Belleville" before closing with "Les Yeux Noirs" and the longest track on the side, "Mabel," at four minutes and fifteen seconds. Side B begins with "All Of Me" and continues through "Harlem Swing," "Crazy Rhythm," "I've Found A New Baby," and "Sugar," concluding with "Festival Swing," which at four minutes and ten seconds is the longest track on that side.

The total runtime across the two sides is modest, with most individual tracks falling in the two-to-three-minute range, consistent with the standard durations of commercial recordings from Reinhardt's most active period. The selection includes pieces closely associated with Reinhardt's name, among them "Minor Swing," "Nuages," and "Les Yeux Noirs," alongside American jazz standards such as "All Of Me," "Crazy Rhythm," and "Sugar."

Diggers Factory, the issuing label, is known for operating a crowdfunding and on-demand pressing model for vinyl releases. Beyond what the tracklist and credits communicate directly, further detail about this specific release — including source recordings, mastering, pressing specifications, and print run — would require independent verification before publication.
