Dub One
Brothers Unite / What Goes Around

Listening notes

Dub One's 2018 twelve-inch release on Foundation X Black pairs two substantial tracks across its two sides. Catalog number FDXBLKSR005, the record presents "Brothers Unite" on the A-side at six minutes and fifty-three seconds, followed by "What Goes Around" on the AA-side at six minutes and fifty-nine seconds — both tracks running close to the seven-minute mark and suggesting considerable room for development within each piece.

The release sits within the drum and bass, electronic, and jungle genres, placing it within a lineage of music that has maintained a dedicated vinyl culture long after the formats that surrounded it shifted toward digital distribution. Foundation X Black's decision to press the material to vinyl in 2018 reflects that ongoing commitment to the format within these communities.

The two tracks together account for just under fourteen minutes of music across the record's two sides, a runtime consistent with the extended constructions typical of dance-oriented twelve-inch releases. The near-symmetry in duration between "Brothers Unite" and "What Goes Around" gives the record a balanced physical structure, with neither side carrying a significantly heavier load than the other.

FDXBLKSR005 is the fifth entry in Foundation X Black's SR catalog sequence, situating this Dub One release within a numbered series from the label. Beyond what the catalog number and its position in that sequence indicate, the broader context of the label's output would require additional verification before further claims could be made.
