[dunkelbunt]
Limited Vinyl Collection

Listening notes

[dunkelbunt] is the recording project released on Poets Club Records, and the Limited Vinyl Collection, catalogued as PCR048, gathers that output into a box set comprising six vinyl records. No release year is confirmed in available documentation.

The set draws together material across several distinct groupings. The first two records present content associated with the albums Morgenlandfahrt and Raindrops & Elephants. Sides A through D carry timed tracks from Morgenlandfahrt, running from the 4:17 opener "La Revedere" through to the 7:40 "Dunkelbunt Dub" that closes side D. Sides E and F carry the Raindrops & Elephants material, though durations for those tracks are not documented here. The third record is associated with Sun Dub Vol 2, spread across sides G and H, and includes both original versions and remixes attributed to [dunkelbunt] alongside remixes credited to other hands, among them a Shawarma Remix and a Dubben Remix of listed tracks.

The remaining three records function as extended single releases. Sides I and J group together as the Cinnamon Girl EP, presenting a club edit and instrumental edit of that title alongside two remix versions of "The Chocolate Butterfly" by Solo Moderna and Stefano Miele respectively. A further record groups under The Chocolate Butterfly heading, with a club edit, a Tüwi Edit, and a single edit of "La Revedere." The final record pairs a Smile On Your Face grouping, carrying an original version and remixes by Brian May, Tecsumo, and Umberto Echo across sides M and N, with a concluding record presenting "Kebab Connection" and a [dunkelbunt] remix of "Memories" on sides O and P.

The genre tags associated with this release in the catalog are exceptionally broad, spanning klezmer, gypsy jazz, bhangra, dub, drum and bass, bossanova, polka, overtone singing, ragtime, and UK garage among more than thirty listed styles.
