En-To-End
Money Talks

Listening notes

En-To-End's "Money Talks" arrived on vinyl in 2021 through Backatcha Records, catalogued as BK 1. The release is a two-sided single, with the title track occupying the A-side at four minutes and five seconds, and an alternate version titled "All Dayer Mix" filling the B-side at three minutes and eighteen seconds.

Backatcha Records' choice of catalog number BK 1 marks this as the label's first release, making it a document of the imprint's origins. The single sits within the Funk / Soul and UK Street Soul genres, placing it in a lineage of British soul music that has maintained a dedicated following among collectors and dancers alike, though the specifics of how this record fits within that broader conversation are beyond what the available information confirms.

The format is vinyl, and the double-sided structure — offering both a lead version and a dedicated "All Dayer Mix" — is a familiar approach in soul and funk releases aimed at DJ use and dancefloor programming. An "all dayer" is a term with particular resonance in UK soul culture, referring to extended daytime events that have long served as a gathering point for enthusiasts of this style of music. Whether the mix was designed with such events specifically in mind is not confirmed here, but the terminology is suggestive of that context.

At its core, this is a compact release: two tracks, totalling just over seven and a half minutes of music, issued on a format that remains central to the culture surrounding soul and funk. As the first catalog entry from Backatcha Records, "Money Talks" represents a verifiable starting point for the label, and for collectors tracking the label's output, BK 1 is where that story begins.
