1st Tribal Vinyl Gathering Of The I.S.T.

Listening notes

Released in 1991, the 1st Tribal Vinyl Gathering Of The I.S.T. is a four-track vinyl release credited jointly to F.O.R.C.E. -N- K. Zee and Jamalski. It appeared with no catalog number on an unaffiliated self-released imprint, a circumstance that places it squarely within the tradition of independent underground releases operating entirely outside the structures of established record labels.

The record carries genre classifications spanning downtempo, electronic, hip hop, house, and ragga hip hop. That range of descriptors, taken together, points to a release that was working across several currents active in early 1990s music, drawing from the dub-inflected hip hop associated with ragga crossover, the rhythmic architecture of house, and the more relaxed tempos of downtempo production. Whether those elements appear in combination or across distinct tracks is not something the available documentation confirms.

The tracklist is divided across two sides. The A-side holds "Vibe Holds Jah Tribe" and "House Holds Jah Tribe," two titles whose phrasing suggests a loose thematic thread connecting them. The B-side carries "Article Jam" and "Article Jazz," a pairing that follows a similar naming logic. No track durations are documented.

The absence of a catalog number, label affiliation, or distributor on record means this release existed at the margins of what was formally traceable in 1991. Self-released vinyl of this kind from that period often circulated through local networks and independent channels rather than conventional retail. Beyond the documented facts above, the circumstances of this release, including personnel details, production background, and distribution, remain unverified and are not addressed here.
