Funki Porcini
Incredible Vinyl

Listening notes

Funki Porcini's Incredible Vinyl arrived in 2023 on Ampoule Records, catalogued as AMP LP04. The release spans seven tracks across two sides, drawing from a cluster of genres — breaks, downtempo, electronic, and future jazz — that have long served as the project's broader territory.

Side A opens with "Incredible Thing," a nearly ten-minute piece that, by sheer duration alone, makes a particular demand of the listener's attention. It is followed by "Belisha Beacon," the shortest entry on the record at three minutes and fifty seconds, and "Six Minutes In Manchester," whose title announces its running time almost to the second, clocking in at five minutes and fifty-five seconds.

Side B carries four tracks and accounts for the longer half of the programme in terms of track count. "The Devil Drives" leads at just over five minutes, followed by "Automotive Ride" at four minutes and twenty-nine seconds. "The Magic Hands Of Fernando Del Rey" runs five minutes and fifty-two seconds, and the record closes with "Oh Boy!" at five minutes and three seconds.

Taken together, the tracklist runs to approximately forty minutes and six seconds of material. The titles themselves carry a certain character — specific in the way that "Six Minutes In Manchester" is, oblique in the way that "The Magic Hands Of Fernando Del Rey" is — though what any of them contain musically is a matter for the listener to discover rather than for this entry to assert.

Ampoule is the label associated with the Funki Porcini project, and AMP LP04 positions Incredible Vinyl as the fourth long-player release in that catalogue sequence. Beyond what the data confirms, this entry makes no further claims.
