Future Sound Of London, The / Shades Of Rhythm
Forgotten Paradise 1

Listening notes

Forgotten Paradise 1 is a 2024 vinyl release on Western Lore, carrying the catalog number FP1. The record brings together two acts from the early 1990s UK electronic scene — The Future Sound Of London and Shades Of Rhythm — for what the label presents as a collaborative or co-billed project under that shared banner.

The A-side presents "Papua New Guinea (Forgotten Paradise Version)," running at 12 minutes and 28 seconds. Papua New Guinea is among the more recognized titles in The Future Sound Of London's catalog, and this version's extended runtime suggests a reworking of that material, though the precise nature of that reworking — and the involvement of each party — is not detailed here. The B-side offers "Vibe Of Eden (Dance With Me)," clocking in at 8 minutes and 16 seconds, a title associated with Shades Of Rhythm.

The release is catalogued under the genres Breakbeat, Electronic, and Hardcore, situational markers that reflect the broader stylistic territory both acts occupied during their earlier output. Whether this release represents a straightforward reissue, a remix project, or newly configured edits of existing material is not confirmed by the available information.

Western Lore is the issuing label, and FP1 as a catalog number implies this may be the opening entry in a wider series — the numeral in both the catalog number and the title pointing in that direction — though no further volumes are cited here.

Collectors and researchers interested in either act, or in the intersection of early UK breakbeat and electronic hardcore, will want to verify personnel credits, mastering details, and any accompanying documentation before drawing conclusions about this release's provenance or completeness.
