FX 909 & Stunna / Cybass
Acoustixx Compilation Vinyl Sampler No. 1/4

Listening notes

Released in 2009 on Vibez Recordings, the Acoustixx Compilation Vinyl Sampler No. 1/4 (catalog number VBZ 044) is a two-track drum and bass release split between two acts. The A-side features FX 909 and Stunna with "Inside," running seven minutes and thirty-three seconds, while the AA-side presents Cybass with "Japonica," clocking in at six minutes and seven seconds.

The release identifies itself as the first of four vinyl samplers drawn from the Acoustixx compilation, placing it within a larger project distributed across multiple physical releases under the Vibez Recordings imprint. The drum and bass and electronic genre tags situate it within a scene that continued to find an audience on vinyl during a period when digital formats were increasingly dominant.

At a combined runtime of just over thirteen minutes across two tracks, each piece is given considerable room within its respective side. The sampler format — releasing compilation material across a numbered series of twelve-inches — was a familiar approach within drum and bass label culture, allowing listeners to acquire individual installments rather than committing to a full album in a single purchase.
