Giant Robot
DJ Ass Kissin' Promo Vinyl

Listening notes

Giant Robot's DJ Ass Kissin' Promo Vinyl, released in 2000 on Clearspot (catalog number 05435), is a four-track promotional record that draws from the genres of electro, electronic, house, and synth-pop. As a promo pressing, it was distributed outside standard commercial channels, which is a common industry practice for advance or promotional purposes.

The A-side opens with "Precast Empire (Velcro Fastener Mix)" and continues with "Jennifer Kissed Me (Single Mix)," a title designation that suggests a version edited or configured for single release. The B-side leads with "Helsinki Rock City (Jori Halkkonen House City Oulo Remix)," a track notable for its credited remix work by Jori Halkkonen, with the remix subtitle referencing Oulu, a city in Finland. The side closes with "S, M, L, XL (Album Version)," indicating this version appeared on a full-length release.

The tracklist itself reflects the multi-format remix culture common in electronic music releases of the period, with several tracks appearing in specific named mixes or versions rather than as straightforward originals. The parenthetical designations across the four tracks — a named mix, a single mix, a credited remix, and an album version — suggest the record functions as a promotional sampler drawing from broader release material rather than presenting exclusively new recordings.

No durations are documented for any of the four tracks. The release carries the genres of electro, electronic, house, and synth-pop, placing it within the intersection of club-oriented and synthesizer-driven styles that characterized a significant portion of European electronic output around the turn of the millennium.
