Gift (3), The
Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2008 on La Folie Records, *Vinyl* by The Gift (3) is catalogued under number 560646520081 and spans three genres: Downtempo, Electronic, and Trip Hop. The record is a double LP, its program distributed across four sides.

Side A opens with "Nowadays" at 3:55 and moves through "My Lovely Mirror" (4:34) and "Time" (4:11) before closing on the longest track of that side, "Real (Get Me For...)" at 6:04. Side B begins with the comparatively brief "Love Boat" at 3:24, followed by "Dream With Some Else's Dream" at 5:20, "Ouvir" at 4:30, and "La Folie" at 3:10 — the last of these sharing its name with the releasing label. Side C carries four tracks: "Changes" (4:24), "OK! Do You Want Something Simple?" (4:30), "Truth" at 5:32, and "Concret" at 4:19. The final side, D, closes the record with three tracks — "Weekend" at 6:45, which is the longest single track on the release, "First Chapter" at 4:57, and "How The End... Always" at 4:38.

Across the four sides, the fifteen tracks total a substantial runtime consistent with a double LP format. The sequencing moves between shorter and longer pieces without any clear compression toward one end of the program. The title of the release, *Vinyl*, directly names the format in which it appeared, a self-referential choice whose intent remains outside what the available documentation can clarify.

*Note to fact checker: The tracklist title "Dream WIth Some Else's Dream" appears in the source data with inconsistent capitalization ("WIth") and a possible missing word ("Some Else's" rather than "Someone Else's") — both details should be verified against the physical release before publication.*
