Groove Collector, The
Vinyl Pusher / Drugs & Sex

Listening notes

Released in 2001 on Vinyl Inside (catalog number VI 140), this two-track single by The Groove Collector pairs "Vinyl Pusher" on the A-side with "Drugs & Sex" on the B-side. The release falls within the electronic and house genres, fitting broadly into the club-oriented twelve-inch format that defined much of that era's dance music output.

Vinyl Inside, as a label, operated within the underground dance music ecosystem that sustained vinyl as a primary format even as digital distribution began its gradual encroachment on the market during the early 2000s. A catalog number of VI 140 suggests a label with substantial output prior to this release, though the specifics of Vinyl Inside's history and roster are beyond what the available documentation confirms.

The track titles themselves — "Vinyl Pusher" and "Drugs & Sex" — carry the kind of blunt, provocative shorthand common to house music releases of the period, where titles frequently signaled a track's dancefloor intent without ambiguity. Whether this naming reflected broader thematic concerns across The Groove Collector's catalog is not something the available facts can support.

No track durations are documented for either side of this release, which limits what can be said about the structural approach of each cut. Duration is often a meaningful indicator in house music, where extended mixes and edits shaped how a record functioned in a DJ context, but that analysis cannot responsibly be applied here without the underlying data.

What the record represents, in verifiable terms, is a straightforward electronic and house release from 2001, issued on vinyl by a label whose catalog number suggests meaningful activity within the format. Collectors and researchers seeking further detail on personnel, pressings, or reception will need to consult sources beyond what is currently available in this entry.
