Highrise (6) / Soundboy Cookie
Do It Again / Good Love

Listening notes

FLATTRAX returned in 2021 with their third catalog release, FLAT3, a split seven- or twelve-inch pairing Highrise (6) on the A-side with Soundboy Cookie on the B-side. The record places two tracks in conversation across its sides: "Do It Again," running four minutes and fifty-one seconds, and "Good Love," which extends the runtime slightly to four minutes and fifty-seven seconds.

Both tracks fall within a shared genre space that draws on breaks, electronic music, and UK garage, three styles that have overlapped and cross-pollinated in British dance music for decades. That combination gives the release a reasonably clear lineage without pinning it to a single moment or scene, and the pairing of two separate artists across one release is a format with a long history in dance and club-oriented vinyl.

FLATTRAX, as a label identity, signals something about the release's intentions through its catalog numbering alone. Reaching a third release is a modest but real milestone for any independent imprint, and issuing that third record as a split suggests a label interested in platforming more than one act at a time rather than building a single flagship sound around one name.

Beyond those structural facts, the record stands as a 2021 vinyl release in a format that remained a meaningful distribution choice for electronic and dance music even as streaming dominated wider consumption. Whether this pressing was produced in large or small quantities, how it was received, or what it sounds like on a turntable are details this entry cannot confirm and therefore does not address.

What can be said is that FLAT3 exists as a documented artifact: two tracks, two artists, one label, one year, and a clear if compact generic address in the UK dance music tradition.
