If-Read / Asymmetric
Dissymmetrical Vinyl 03

Listening notes

Dissymmetrical Vinyl 03 is a four-track vinyl release issued in 2019 on Dissymmetrical Music, catalogued as DSSMV003. The record is a split between two acts, If-Read and Asymmetric, and sits within the genres of drum and bass, electronic, and jungle.

The release follows a straightforward two-sides-of-two-tracks format. The A-side opens with "Midnight" and continues with "Escalator," while the B-side carries "Variations" and closes with "Robot." Track durations are not listed.

As the third entry in the Dissymmetrical Vinyl series, DSSMV003 represents a continued commitment by the label to the vinyl format at a time when physical releases in drum and bass and jungle circles remained a deliberate choice rather than a default one. The series numbering indicates an ongoing curatorial programme, though the full scope of that programme falls outside what can be confirmed here.

The pairing of If-Read and Asymmetric on a single record is a structural choice worth noting. Split releases of this kind are a recognised format within underground electronic music, often used to present two artists in dialogue without requiring either to carry an extended solo release. Whether that dynamic is at work here in any particular way is not something the available information can confirm.

The four track titles — "Midnight," "Escalator," "Variations," and "Robot" — are concrete and plainly drawn, though what they signify musically is not something this entry can address without verified listening notes or artist statements.

Drum and bass and jungle remain genres with an active vinyl community, and Dissymmetrical Music's choice to anchor this series in the format places it within that tradition. Prospective buyers and researchers should seek out additional documentation to confirm pressing details, edition size, and any associated credits not captured in the base catalogue data.
