Illicit
Black Vinyl / White Powder

Listening notes

Released in 2002, Black Vinyl / White Powder is a two-sided vinyl record by Illicit, issued on a self-released basis under the artist's own name rather than through an established imprint. The catalog number assigned to the release is BVINYL, and the record falls within the electronic and house genres.

The release carries no label affiliation beyond the artist themselves, a circumstance reflected in its designation as Not On Label. Self-releasing on vinyl was not uncommon in underground electronic music circles during this period, and the format choice here — a standard two-sided record — is consistent with how house music was frequently distributed outside of major or independent label structures at the time.

The tracklist is minimal in its documentation. Both the A-side and B-side are listed simply as Untitled, with no track durations recorded. This absence of detailed tracklist information is itself a characteristic sometimes associated with self-released or limited-distribution electronic records, where formal documentation was not always a priority for the artist or was deliberately withheld.

The title Black Vinyl / White Powder presents a pairing that is visually evocative given the physical format, though what significance, if any, the artist intended beyond the surface reading is not established by the available record.

Beyond these catalogued details — artist, title, year, format, label status, catalog number, and genre classification — the verified facts about this release are limited. Aspects including personnel involved, circumstances of production, pressing quantities, and the record's place within Illicit's broader catalog are not documented here and cannot be addressed responsibly in this draft.
