Listening notes
Released in 2019 by Spacelab9 (catalog number SL9-2034-1-8), this deluxe vinyl box set presents Inon Zur's score for Fallout 4 across twelve records, spanning sides A through L. The sheer physical scale of the release is apparent from the tracklist alone: 65 cues are documented here, ranging from brief combat stingers of under two minutes to extended ambient passages that stretch past five minutes.
The genres associated with the release — ambient, electronic, modern classical, score, soundtrack, and video game music — reflect the breadth of what the tracklist contains on paper. Cue titles suggest a score that moves between action-oriented material ("Combat Ready," "War in the Wastes," "V.A.T.S. or Die") and more expansive, atmospheric writing ("Endless Ocean, Endless Dreams" at 5:33, "The Last Mariner" at 5:24, and "Rebuild, Renew" at 6:11, which is the longest single cue on the set).
A recurring structural feature is the "Wandering" series, which appears across multiple regional designations — The Blasted Forest, The City, The Foothills, The Glowing Sea, and The Coast — each broken into multiple parts distributed across different sides of the set. This accounts for thirteen of the sixty-five tracks and suggests a deliberate organizational logic to how the music was sequenced for vinyl.
The set closes with "Fallout 4 Main Theme ('Spinner' Mix)" on side L, a 2:49 variant of the "Main Theme" that opens side A at 3:02, providing a bookend of sorts to the complete program.
