Jazz Sabbath
Jazz Sabbath

Listening notes

Jazz Sabbath's self-titled album, released in 2020 on the Blacklake label (catalog number BL411348), presents seven tracks across two sides of vinyl. The record is catalogued under the genres of Contemporary Jazz and Jazz.

The tracklist is built entirely from titles associated with Black Sabbath's early catalog. Side A opens with "Fairies Wear Boots," followed by "Evil Woman," "Rat Salad," and "Iron Man." Side B carries "Hand Of Doom," "Changes," and "Children Of The Grave." No track durations are listed in the available data.

The project itself is built around an elaborate conceit: Jazz Sabbath presents the premise that Black Sabbath appropriated their songs from a jazz group of the same name, inverting the usual direction of jazz reinterpretation. Whether that framing is taken at face value or understood as satire, the vinyl release on Blacklake situates the material squarely within a jazz context, with the genre classifications on record reflecting that positioning rather than the hard rock origins of these song titles.

For collectors and researchers, the release offers a documented example of genre-crossing reinterpretation committed to physical format. The catalog number BL411348 provides a reference point for identification purposes. No personnel, pressing details, or production credits are available within the verified data provided here, and no claims about those elements can be made at this stage.

This is an unreviewed draft. A fact checker should verify the Blacklake label's full discographic details, confirm the project's conceptual framing against primary sources, and determine whether additional release variants, personnel credits, or liner note information exist before publication.
