Kurt Elling, Charlie Hunter
SuperBlue: The Iridescent Spree - Deluxe Edition Vinyl Bundle: Iridescent Spree + Guilty Pleasures & Signed Poster

Listening notes

Released in 2023 on Edition Records, the Deluxe Edition Vinyl Bundle from Kurt Elling and Charlie Hunter presents their SuperBlue project across two discs under the catalog number EDNLP1218LTD. The first disc carries the title The Iridescent Spree, while the second, Guilty Pleasures, features drummer Nate Smith. The bundle is completed by a signed poster.

Kurt Elling is a vocalist and Charlie Hunter a guitarist, and their SuperBlue collaboration brings together work catalogued across genres including contemporary jazz, funk, soul-jazz, and jazz more broadly. The presence of Nate Smith on the second disc adds a third named voice to the project, though the full personnel beyond these three is not documented in the available information.

Edition Records, the London-based jazz label, is the releasing body for this package. The catalog number suffix LTD signals a limited designation, consistent with the bundled and signed nature of the release, though no specific pressing quantity is documented here.

The two-disc structure organizes the material under distinct titles, suggesting the bundle consolidates what may have been separate releases or distinct bodies of work into a single vinyl offering. The signed poster included in the package positions this as a collector-oriented release rather than a standard pressing.

The genres listed — spanning funk, soul-jazz, and contemporary jazz — reflect the range of the SuperBlue project as classified, though listeners should draw their own conclusions about how those descriptors apply across the material on each disc.
