Kuzma Palkin
Sierpinski Curve

Listening notes

Kuzma Palkin's *Sierpinski Curve*, released in 2017 on ГОСТ ИНСТРУМЕНТ (catalog number ИНСТРУМЕНТ-04), is a double-sided vinyl release spanning four tracks across its four sides. The record situates itself within the intersecting territories of electronic music, experimental practice, house, and techno — a combination of genres that the label's catalog appears to engage with directly.

The title itself borrows from mathematics. The Sierpinski curve is a type of space-filling fractal, a geometric structure that recursively subdivides into self-similar forms at every scale. Whether this reference is purely nominal or reflects something intentional about the release's structure is not something the available facts can confirm, though the title does establish a frame through which a listener might approach the material.

The tracklist runs as follows: "SugrobChill" occupies Side A at five minutes and six seconds, followed by "3 DeepTX" on Side B at six minutes and twenty-eight seconds. Side C carries "25-11-te" at six minutes and twenty-four seconds, and "2 DisintegrationSwirl" closes the record on Side D at five minutes and sixteen seconds. The total runtime across all four tracks comes to just over twenty-three minutes. The track titles themselves are noticeably idiosyncratic — blending Cyrillic-influenced transliteration, numbers, and English-language descriptors in ways that resist easy categorization.

ГОСТ ИНСТРУМЕНТ, the issuing label, reflects a naming convention drawn from GOST, the Soviet and post-Soviet system of technical standards, a reference that signals an awareness of industrial and bureaucratic aesthetics within the broader Eastern European electronic music context.

*Sierpinski Curve* is formatted for vinyl across all media. Beyond the facts catalogued here, this draft does not speculate on personnel, production circumstances, pressing details, or the release's place within any wider scene.
