Loveland Feat. Rachel McFarlane
The Wonder Of Love (Limited Edition D.J. Double Vinyl)

Listening notes

Released in 1995 on Eastern Bloc Records under catalog number HF45, "The Wonder Of Love (Limited Edition D.J. Double Vinyl)" by Loveland featuring Rachel McFarlane is a double vinyl package spanning four sides and eleven tracks. The release is catalogued under a notably broad range of genres: Electronic, Funk / Soul, House, Rhythm & Blues, and Soul, a combination that reflects the hybrid sensibilities common to mid-1990s UK dance music releases.

The tracklist makes considerable use of the double format's available runtime. Side A opens with the title track at 4:48, followed by "Let The Music Lift You Up (Full On Vocal Mix)" at 6:14 and "Shout It Out" at 3:55. Side B carries three further tracks, with "Don't Make Me Wait (Original Riff Revival)" running the longest on that side at 6:55, followed by "All The Way" and "(Keep On) Shining." Side C opens with "I Need Somebody (Loveland's Full On Vocal Mix)," which also clocks in at 6:55 and shares its runtime with "Don't Make Me Wait," before closing with "If Only I Knew Then What I Know Now" at 4:28. Side D concludes the release with "Stand Up," "Hope (Never Give Up)," and "Let Somebody Love You."

The inclusion of explicitly labeled mixes — among them a "Full On Vocal Mix" and an "Original Riff Revival" — in the track titles is consistent with the conventions of a DJ-oriented release, as the "Limited Edition D.J. Double Vinyl" designation in the title itself also suggests. At eleven tracks across four sides, the release offers substantial playing time for its format.
